Mrs. Almira Hough
Passed Away At
Bowen Home

Mrs. Almira Hough died at her home in Bowen Friday morning after a long illness.

Almira Jane Cox was born March 10, 1855 near Middle Creek.  She was the eldest and last surviving of a family of seven children of Marion Francis and Elizabeth Langford Cox.  She attended the rural school in Independence district.  She was married to Hezekiah K. Hough at Carthage on November 27, 1873 by Judge J. B. Risse.  To this union were born seven children, six of whom survive: Mrs. Minnie I. Timberlake of Springfield, Clarence E. of Denver, Mrs. Josie Harter, Lennie and Lessie, all of Bowen and Clifton L. of Detroit, Mich.  One daughter, Lelia M. Harbur and three grandchildren preceded her in death.  There are eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends.

Mrs. Hough was unmindful of self, always having the welfare of her loved ones at heart.  She possessed a most excellent character, was of an unassuming and quiet dignity and her kindly smile was a benediction on all with whom she came in contact.

Funeral services were conducted from the Stillwell Funeral Home in Bowen, Sunday afternoon by Rev. John B. Roosa of the Christian church. Mrs. Shirley McMahan, Mrs. Merle Rigor, Mrs. Leroy Smith and Mrs. Carson Worth with Mrs. Loy Veach accompanist, sang "The City Four Square" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me."  Casket bearers were Bert White, Ray Cox, Floyd Duffy, Charles Owen, W. V. Randolph and Oliver Kimbrough.  Interment was in Bowen cemetery.

Mrs. Almira Hough

Funeral services for Mrs. Almira Hough, who died Friday, Feb. 13, were held in the Stillwell funeral home in Bowen Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. John B. Roosa, pastor of the Christian church.  Mrs. Shirley McMahan, Mrs. Merle Rigor, Mrs. LeRoy Smith and Mrs. Carson Worth sang, accompanied by Mrs. Loy Veach.  The pallbearers were: Bert White, Ray Cox, Floyd Duffy, Charles Owen, W. V. Randolph and Oliver Kimbrough.  Burial was in Bowen cemetery.
