CARTHAGE, Ill. -- Mrs. Hilda E. Holtsclaw, 89, of Golden Good Shepherd Home, formerly of Hamilton and Carthage, died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 10, 1990) in the nursing home.
Mrs. Holtsclaw was born July 9, 1900, in Keokuk, a daughter of Christian and Caroline Markle Beddenstadt. She married Clarence Holtsclaw June 11, 1919, in Carthage. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Holtsclaw was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, the Jolly County Club and the Hancock Saddle Club.
Survivors include three sons, Elton and Max, both of Carthage, and Verne of Hamilton; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the DeJong-Neiser Funeral Home in Carthage by the Rev. John Jamison. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home after 2 p.m. today and Tuesday until the service.
Memorials may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choice.
