Golden V. Holland, 100, formerly of Nauvoo, died at his daughter's home in Matherville on Friday afternoon, Dec. 2, 2005.
Holland was born Oct. 6, 1905, in Prairie Township, the son of Clarence G. and Tesa L. Golden Holland. After graduation from high school, he married Gladys Pauline Symmons in Keokuk, Iowa, on July 6, 1930. She died in 1993.
He is survived by two daughters, Enid Rose Fredricks of Silvis and Joan (Don) Matheny of Matherville; over 20 grandchildren; over 40 great-grandchildren; and also great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; one son, Donald; three daughters, Connie May Holland, Shirley Ann House and Karen Sue Dawson.
Holland was a lifelong farmer in the area and also worked in the ALCOA shops for 15 years when living in Geneseo, retiring in 1970.
Graveside services were held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association. Printy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
