Funeral services for Robert K. Hitz, 50, Rt. 1, Carthage, were held Sunday afternoon in the Neiser Funeral Home in Carthage with the Rev. Charles Webb officiating. Burial was in LaHarpe Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name for the Red Cross blood bank.
Mr. Hitz died Thursday night, May 27, 1976, in Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
He was born Jan. 27, 1926, a son of Ira and Jennie Woods Hitz. He married Loretta Hastings Gutting April 19, 1973, at West Point. He was a farm laborer and was a member of the Ferris Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Mae McPeak Hitz.
Surviving with his wife are three children, Mrs. Carol Snodgrass of Blandinsville, Oscar Keith Hitz and Miss Jennie Hitz of Ferris; one grandson; six step children, Mrs. Debra Mitchell of LaGrange, Mo., Sheryl, Carrie, Becky, Cathy and Chris Gutting of Rt. 1, Carthage; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Marie) Clark of Carthage and Mrs. Milerd (Virginia) Brown of Carthage; and one brother, Karl Hitz of Avon.
