WARSAW, Ill. -- Robert Lee Hatfield, 63, of rural Warsaw, Ill., formerly of Keokuk, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1936, in Keokuk, the son of Edgar Ross and Delores Helen Malloy Hatfield. He married Judith Nelson on Aug. 5, 1954, in Batesville, Miss. She survives.
Additional survivors include: two daughters, Julie L. Porter and her husband, Scott of Keokuk and Christine D. Anderson and her husband, Tod of Keokuk; a son, Clifford R. Hatfield and his wife, Tena, of Basco, Ill.; his mother, Delores H. Speake of Montrose, two sisters, Sandy Finley and her husband, James of Montrose and Joyce Ewing of Burlington; two brothers, Jerry Hatfield and Phillip Speake and his wife, Lynn, all of Burlington; extended family David and Marcy Stamper of Keokuk; 10 grandchildren, Sally Carter and her husband, Brian, Tim Porter, Amy Balentine and her husband, Terry, Golda Hatfield, Kayla Hatfield, John Michael Melcher, Jennifer Maria Melcher, Jennifer Nicole Anderson, Tate Anderson and Gabrielle Hatfield; and a great-grandson, Bo Robert Balentine.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Hatfield; his stepfather, John Speake; and a son, Robert Lee Hatfield Jr.
He had been a resident of rural Warsaw for the past nine years, moving there from Keokuk.
Mr. Hatfield had been employed at Keokuk Steel Castings for more than 44 years, retiring in June of 1999.
He enjoyed restoring classic cars and loved being with his grandchildren.
Mr. Hatfield was a member of the New Testament Christian Church, Keokuk.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk.
Visitation is today with family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk.
