Carl H. Hasten

Funeral services for Carl H. Hasten, prominent farmer of the Fountain Green vicinity, were held Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. in the Banks Funeral Home in LaHarpe, the Rev. William Tammen officiating.  Burial was in the McConnell cemetery.

Mr. Hasten died Thursday afternoon in his home.  He had been ill for two years.

Born Oct. 14, 1886 near Webster, he was a son of Andrew Jackson and Lydia Faburn Hasten.  He was married to Jessie McConnell Aug. 11, 1916 in Burlington.  They had lived the last 42 years in the farm home where he died.

For 23 years he served as road commissioner for Fountain Green township.  He was a member of the Fountain Green Presbyterian church and the Blandinsville Odd Fellows lodge.

Surviving with the widow are four sons, Carl, Jr. and William of LaHarpe, James of Carmi and Lyman of Riverside, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Plummer of Weedsport, N. Y., Mrs. Margie Walker of Fountain Green and Mrs. Christine DeHaven of Blandinsville; 21 grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Hasten of Webster and Joe Hasten of Washington and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and three sisters.
