Mrs. Harman Harter

Funeral services for Mrs. Harman Harter, 79, of Carthage were held Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2:30 p.m. in the Denver Christian church, the Rev. William Bailey and the Rev. G. C. Ellcey officiating.  Music was furnished by Mrs. Junius Vance and Mr. and Mrs. William Rampley.  Casket bearers were Frank Hopson, Lawrence Hudson, Francis Harrison, William L. Johnson, Richard Bilderback, and Fred Wright.  Interment was in Harmony Township cemetery.

Mrs. Harter died Friday, Oct. 19.

Born Mary Josie Hough, July 17, 1883 in Bentley, she was a daughter of Hezekiah K. and Almira Cox Hough.  On Dec. 27, 1908 she was married in Carthage to Harman Theodore Harter.  The late Judge C. J. Scofield performed the marriage ceremony.

In her young womanhood she was baptized in the Denver Christian church of which she was a member for almost 60 years.  She was also a charter member of the Althea class.

Surviving with the widower are a son, Harman Leon of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Clarence Hough of Denver and Clifton Hough of Houghton Lake Heights, Mich.; a sister, Lennie of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and a daughter who died in infancy, and three sisters.
