GEORGE W. HARRISON

Well Known Retired Farmer Died
Suddenly At His Home In
Basco, Monday

The funeral services for George W. Harrison were conducted from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. A. C. Lillie, pastor of the Baptist church having charge of the service.  Prof. R. H. Groom, Miss Dora Schlosser, Mrs. Cora Law, Mrs. B. W. Barnaby, Rev. A. C. Lillie with Mrs. Fisher at the organ, rendered several appropriate selections.  The grandsons, Vance, Edward and Arch Harrison, Earl Edwards and Maurice Harrison and nephew, Clarence Harrison were the pall bearers.  The burial was at the West cemetery near Basco.

George W. Harrison was born near Rushville, Schuyler county, Illinois, Dec. 21, 1839, died at his home very suddenly Monday evening.  He had been up town as usual, returning about 4:30 p. m.  After entering the home he sat down in a rocking chair near the stove and without a moment's warning he breathed his last.

A few years after his birth his parents moved to a farm three miles north of Basco, where he resided until about fifteen years ago, where he and his wife and daughter, Miss Mattie, moved to Basco, where he resided until his death.

He was married to Miss Zepha Damron, Jan. 4, 1865.  Eight children were born, two now deceased, a daughter, Emma, who died at the age of 17 years, and a son, James Edward, who died at the age of two years.  The surviving children are: C. D. Harrison, of Wichita, Kan.; Mrs. Nellie Caldwell, of Idaho; George H. (Dick) Harrison, of near Elvaston; Mrs. Grace Edwards, of Carthage, Ill.; Mrs. Annie Edwards, of near Elvaston, and Miss Mattie at home.
