Waldo P. "Doe" Harrington, 88, of Carthage, died at Montebello Nursing Home in Hamilton on Monday, July 28, 2003 of cancer.

He was born May 9, 1915 in Carthage, the son of George and Lena Coventry Harrington.  On Nov. 8, 1937 he married Ida Frances Wright.  She died Nov. 1, 1989.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Reeder of Hamilton and Linda Harrington of LaHarpe; one son, Gary Harrington of Los Cruces, N.M.; five grandchildren, Tim Harrington of Cary, N.C., Paul Harrington of Los Cruces, Deborah Vandermark of Macomb, Rick Goertz of Rochester, Ill., and Philip Dunham of Murrayville, Ill.; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Stephanie Dunham, Kali and Jordan Goertz and Holly Harrington; four step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Perley Crosier of Prosser, Wash.; one brother, James Hotchkiss of Kewanee, Ill.; two half sisters, Betty Baldwin and Phylis; two half brothers, Art and Clarence; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sisters, Jean Loomis, Mary Atkinson and Rose Pointer; three brothers, George Loomis and Frank and Floyd Harrington; two half-brothers, Ernest and George Harrington.

He was employed by Mike Wright Oil Co. for approximately 45 years until his retirement.  He loved to pitch horseshoes, play basketball, bowl, and most of all loved people.  He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Lion's Club in Carthage.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at McKay Cemetery in rural Carthage with Pastor Greg Busboom officiating.

Memorials may be directed to Blessing Hospice of Hancock County.
