IONA HARDY

May 2, 1903 -- July 18, 1991

Iona Mae Hardy, 88, of Hamilton died Thursday, July 18, 1991, in Montebello Manor, Hamilton.

Mrs. Hardy was born May 2, 1903, near Tennessee, the daughter of William and Mae Belknap Austin.  She married Clarence Hardy on Nov. 17, 1927.

He died on Feb. 10, 1950.

She operated a grocery store and was postmistress in Bentley until her retirement in 1973.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Carthage.

She is survived by one son, Robert Hardy of Roseville; three daughters, Mrs. Gene (Marjorie) Thurman of Carthage, Mary Adams and Betty Hardy of Carthage; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert (Maxine) Ganion of Carthage; one sister, Mrs. Don (Mamie) Sylvester of West Point, Iowa; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one son, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held Sunday at DeJong-Neiser Funeral Home in Carthage with the Rev. James Fox officiating.  Burial was in Harmony Cemetery near Bentley.

Iona Mae Hardy

CARTHAGE, Ill. -- Iona Mae Hardy, 88, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday (July 18, 1991) in Montebello Manor in Hamilton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at DeJong-Neiser Funeral Home in Carthage by the Rev. James Fox.  Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery near Bentley.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
