Craig Alan Hardy, 52, of Nauvoo, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born Jan. 10, 1954, in Keokuk, Iowa, a son of Robert J. and Rosemary Williams Hardy. He married Linda K. Nielsen on June 3, 1978, in Woodbine, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife; his parents, Robert and Rosemary Hardy of Nauvoo; his in-laws, Everett and L. Audrey Nielsen of Woodbine; two daughters, Crailin Lou Hardy of California and Alanda Kay (Kevin) Brewer of Hawaii; one brother, Douglas Ray (Sandy) Hardy of California; one granddaughter, Madison Nicole Brewer.
He received his bachelor of arts degree from Graceland College in LaMoine, Iowa. While teaching at Nauvoo Colusa High School for 27 years, he taught math, English, reading and P.E. He also coached junior high basketball and math teams. He was a member of the National Education Association. He was a member of The Community of Christ Church and served as a priest in the congregation in Nauvoo. He enjoyed painting houses during the summer, climbing and backpacking in the mountains, gardening and math. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing all sports.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. at the Community of Christ Church of Nauvoo. Elder Lee Ourth will officiate. Private burial is in Harmony Cemetery in rural Carthage. Family will meet with friends Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church of Nauvoo.
A memorial has been established in memory of Craig Alan Hardy.
