Bentley Resident,
Dies; Rites HeldClarence L. Hardy of Bentley, died Friday morning at the St. Francis hospital in Peoria, where he had been a surgical patient for two weeks. He was the son of Clement J. and Lucinda Del Jones Hardy and was born at Bentley, April 25, 1890.
Mr. Hardy farmed for a number of years following his marriage to Iona Austin. They lived on a farm near Carthage for one year, near Golden two years and three years at Colusa. Following his retirement from farming in 1944 Mr. Hardy and his family moved to Bentley, where he became postmaster and operated the Community store. During these years he made a great number of friends.
Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters and a son: Mrs. Robert Ganion and Robert Hardy of Carthage, Mrs. Gene Thurman of Adrian, and Mary and Betty at home. Also surviving are two brothers, Bryan Hardy of Carthage, Clifton Hardy of Richmond, Calif., and four sisters, Mrs. Louis Scheuermann of Carthage, Mrs. Albert Scheuermann of Sutter, Mrs. Baird White of Plymouth, and Mrs. Goldie Brown of Macomb, also two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Fecht funeral home Monday afternoon with Elder Lawrence Jones officiating. Keith Hardy of Lima sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Mrs. Ted Lane. Pallbearers were Robert White, William Hardy, Loren Scheuermann, Harold Brown, Alfred Ward and Lawrence Scheuermann. Burial was in Harmony cemetery.
