MRS. JAMES E. HARBUR
BURIED HERE WEDNESDAY

Lelia Mabel, daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hough, was born in Hancock county, Illinois, October 3, 1877, and departed this life in St. Joseph hospital, Keokuk, Iowa, Jan. 7, 1929, age 51 years, 3 months and 4 days.

She was united in marriage to James Elmer Harbur, October 30, 1902.  To this union were born three children, all of whom survive their mother.

At the age of 11 she was converted and united with the Methodist Church in Carthage, Ill., and when she moved to Memphis she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church, South, and continued in that relationship until the church was disbanded, when she placed her membership with the Methodist Episcopal Church.

She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge in Memphis.

Mrs. Harbur's health commenced to decline about two years ago.  Nearly four weeks ago she went to the above named hospital and submitted to an operation.  For awhile it seemed as though she would recover, but a change for the worst took place, and she gradually grew worse until the end.

She was cheerful through all her sickness, and bore it all uncomplainingly.  She made a brave fight to get well, and always took an optimistic view.

She possessed the spirit of kindness and self-sacrificing to those who were in need.

She was a noble wife, a loving mother and a good neighbor.  She will be sadly missed in the home, and also her intimate friends.

Besides the three children, Wayne, Kenneth and Mrs. Neva Forrester, all of Memphis, Mo., she leaves to mourn one grandchild, Helen Harbur; aged mother, Mrs. Almira Hough, four sisters, Mrs. George Timberlake, Misses Lenesie and Lessie Hough, all of Carthage, Ill., and Mrs. Josey Harter of Bowen, Ill., two brothers, Clarence Hough of Bowen, Ill., and Clifton Hough of Detroit, Michigan, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. S. OlsenMrs. Fian Oliver, Mrs. Olsen, J. J. Zumsteg and J. H. Watkins sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break," and "Does Jesus Care."  Mrs. Swift at the piano.

Body bearers were Howard Hockett, Joe Creek, Earl Clark, Roscoe Baker, N. C. Scott and C. H. Andres.  Interment was in Memphis cemetery.
