Column 3Celebrated Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Harbur of near Memphis, Mo., celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary March 26th. Mrs. Harbur was formerly Martha Ellen Bryant, born 1855 in Hancock county near Carthage, Illinois. Marion Harbur was born in 1852 in Scotland county near Memphis, Mo., and still resides on the same farm which his father entered, on which there has never been a warranty deed or a loan, just a patent from the government and a quit claim deed.
Mr. and Mrs. Harbur are the proud parents of eleven children, twenty-three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren living; a number of which were present at a much enjoyed anniversary dinner at their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Harbur are the parents of Perry "Peck" Harbur of this city and Douglas, formerly residing here but now a resident of Galesburg.

Last Friday morning, G. M. Harbur, an old and prominent citizen, died from heart trouble. He had been in Ammerman & Bertram's grocery when he complained of feeling ill and said he would go to Dr. Baker's office. Those present proposed phoning the doctor to come down, but Mr. Harbur said he could make it. Upon arrival upstairs at the Baker office he collapsed and died.
Mr. Harbur lived most of his life in this county in the Salem neighborhood. He was a man of integrity, industry and friendliness. Following the death of his wife, Mr. Harbur moved from the old homestead, south of Salem church, into Memphis, where he had lived for several months.
Ten children survive: Ambrose of Kirksville; P. A. of Carthage, Ill.; J. E. of this city; Everett, Kirksville; Charles, Brashear; William, Kahoka; Mrs. Ada Fitzgerald, Ottumwa, Ia.; Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson, Memphis; Ellis, Memphis; and Mrs. Elsie Welbourn, Ottumwa.
Word from Mrs. Anderson in Florida, stated that she would get to St. Louis, Wednesday night by plane and the funeral services will be held Sunday at Union church Southeast of town.

G. M. HARBUR
Gibson Marion Harbur, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Harbur, was born March 8, 1852, in Scotland County, near Memphis, Mo., and died February 14, 1936. On March 26, 1872, was united in marriage to Martha Ellen Bryant, of Carthage, Ill., who preceded him in death December 14, 1934. To this union 12 children were born, two preceded in death: Arthur, who died in infancy; Dudley, died December 17, 1932, at Galesburg, Ill. Ambrose, Everett and Charles, who live in Adair County, Mo.; Perry of Carthage, Ill.; James, Elizabeth, Ellis of Memphis, Mo.; William of Kahoka; Ada and Elsie of Ottumwa, Iowa.
One brother, John Harbur of Memphis, Mo.; 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In early life he united with the Christian Church, later became a member of the Methodist Church at Union.
Services were held at Union church, southeast of Memphis, Mo., Sunday, February 23, 1936 at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Clergyman, Rev. C. K. Green. Interment in Union cemetery, by the side of his wife.
Bodybearers were six of the seven sons.
Floral offerings were many and beautiful. Flowers from out of town from Mr. and Mrs. Dee Lang of the Dee Lang Shows of St. Louis; Mrs. Lydia Maier and Roy Spencer of Dowagiac, Mich.; a beautiful basket from the Show Womens Club of St. Louis; the Friendship Class and True Blue Class of the Emley Ave., Baptist Church of Ottumwa, Iowa; from the employees of John Morrell Packing Co., Ottumwa, Iowa; and many others from friends in Memphis.
Those who attended services from other cities: Mr. and Mrs. Ernie McDaniel of Carthage, Ill.; Mrs. Lydia Maier of Dowagiac, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Randolph of Warsaw, Ill. Mrs. Randolph is a granddaughter, Kenneth Harbur a grandson from Nebraska City, Stillman Bell, grandson, and Mrs. Mildred Rhodes, granddaughter, of Ottumwa.
