Mrs. Maxine E. Haines, 79, 413 E. Summit St., Macomb died at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1991 at McDonough District Hospital.
She was born April 1, 1912 in Hancock County to Harley L. and Ellen (Tippet) Parker. She married Von K. Haines June 18, 1932 at Colchester. He died June 1, 1963.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Stan (Carolee) Sellers of Macomb; two granddaughters; one great-greatson [sic]; two sisters, Mrs. Madge Lenix of Rock Island and Mrs. Kathryn Diehl of Aledo. She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one infant daughter.
She entered nursing training at Phelps Hospital in Macomb and Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. She received her LPN in 1930 from Phelps Hospital. She and her husband farmed in Hancock County until 1941 when they moved back to Macomb. Following the death of her husband she re-entered the nursing field, working at Phelps Hospital (1963-66), McDonough District Hospital (1966-1972) and Macomb Manor (1976-1984). She was a member of the First Christian Church of Macomb and American Legion Auxilliary.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home with the Rev. James Stovall officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 7 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
