Called to Rest
At CarthageMrs. Mabel E. Grove, 83, widow of Ernest C. Grove, passed away Thursday night, Sept. 22, 1966 in Memorial hospital, Carthage. She had been a patient five months. Mrs. Grove was well known in this area and beloved by a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 Sunday afternoon in the Kilgore Memorial home in Carthage. The Rev. John N. Keller, Methodist minister, officiated.
The music was comforting and there were many floral tributes. Burial was in Harmony cemetery.
Mrs. Grove was born July 10, 1883 at Bentley, Hancock county, Illinois, the daughter of George S. and Susan Fletcher Burner. She was married there Nov. 28, 1906 to Ernest C. Grove, this happy union being severed by his demise in February, 1959. They resided many years in the Bowen community. She was a member of the Bowen Methodist church.
Surviving are three sons, Harry L., of Carthage, Leland B. of Denver, and Junius L. of Sciota; a sister, Mrs. W. L. (Frankie) Huey of Oak Park, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
