In Memoriam

Ernest C. Grove, son of Jacob S. and Maggie Dickson Grove was born April 29, 1882 on a farm near Bentley, Ill.  While holding on to his usual cheerful spirit, deeply appreciative of those who passed his way, he departed this life at the Memorial hospital in Carthage, following a six weeks illness, on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the age of 76 years.

He was united in marriage to Mabel Burner at her home west of Bentley, Nov. 28, 1906.  To this union were born three sons, all of whom survive: Harry L. of Carthage, Leland B. of Bowen, and Junius L. of Sciota.  Their loving care and attention, together with the three faithful daughters-in-law, Mattie, Belva and Alice, and his beloved wife was a comfort to him in these last days.  There are also four grandsons: James of Bowen, Robert of Carthage, Richard and Randy of Sciota.  The only other surviving relatives are two cousins, Mrs. Carl Douglas and Mrs. Vernie Lathan, both of Bentley.

His parents and one brother, Ray are deceased.

Mr. Grove was a member of the Bowen Methodist church.  He was devoted to his family, their interests being foremost in his every plan.  His kindnesses were far reaching, life having indeed been richer for having known Ernest C. Grove and having been counted as a friend.
