Mrs. Mylon Gronewold

Funeral services for Mrs. Mylon (Virginia Mae) Gronewold, 48, 11 Lyn Mar, Quincy, were held at 2 p.m. June 18 in the Luther Memorial Church in Quincy with the Rev. Wayne Stoutenberg and the Rev. David Miley officiating.  Burial was in Harmony Cemetery east of Bentley.

Mrs. Gronewold died Thursday afternoon, June 15, 1972, in St. Mary Hospital in Quincy where she had been a patient about a month.  She had been in failing health about a year.

She was born July 17, 1923 in Harmony Township, a daughter of Walter J. and Ruby McCallister Hardy.  She attended Carthage High School and Carthage College.  She married Mylon Gronewold March 4, 1945, in Carthage.  She taught in elementary schools in Hancock County and was district manager for Field Enterprises Educational Corp. until 1970.  She was a member of Luther Memorial Church and taught Sunday School.

Surviving with her husband are her parents of Rt. 1, Carthage; four daughters, Mrs. Diana Hamilton of Alamogordo, N. Mex., Mrs. Carolann Hawkins of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Joanne and Janice at home; one son, Bill of Greentop, Mo.; two brothers, Walter J. Hardy, Jr., of Rock Falls and Robert J. Hardy of Hamilton; and a granddaughter, Rajean Lea Gronewold.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tom.
