supervisor diesFuneral services for Henry J. Gronewold, 73, supervisor of Bear Creek Township for several years, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. R. E. Aden officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of Carthage. Visitation will be in the Fecht Funeral Home, Carthage.
Mr. Gronewold died Tuesday morning in Memorial Hospital, Carthage.
He was born Jan. 22, 1904, at Basco, the son of John and Reke Fecht Gronewold. On Nov. 21, 1926, he was married to Mattie Huls in Immanuel Lutheran Church south of Carthage. She survives.
Mr. Gronewold was re-elected to another supervisor's term April 5. He also was a member of the Nachusa Lutheran Home board, the First National Bank of Carthage board of directors, the Masonic Lodge, Quincy Consistory and Mohammind Shrine.
Survivors besides the widow include a daughter, Laurine at the home; and four grandchildren -- Cynthia, Dean, Jeffrey and Jacqueline -- who have lived at the home since their parents were killed in 1965.
