Mrs. Sarah Goodrich
Died After Illness
Of Short Duration

Mrs. Sarah J. Goodrich, age 94 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Susie Keegan, of Ferris, March 2, following an illness of one week and two days, brought on by a severe cold.

Sarah Jane Yetter was born in Lancaster county, Pa., January 8, 1837, the daughter of William G. and Lydia Rock Yetter and came with her parents to Hancock county, Illinois, at the age of one year, the family coming by flat boat down the Ohio river.

She grew to womanhood out on the prairie four miles east of Carthage, where she attended school and became a member of the Methodist church, of which church her father was a minister.  In later life after moving to Carthage she became affiliated with the Carthage Christian church.

At the age of 17, she was married to James Rupple Goodrich, of East Carthage to which union were born William and Mary, both of whom are deceased; Mrs. Matilda Brown, of Sturgeon, Mo., Mrs. Eliza Stowe and Mrs. Lydia Swain, both of Carthage, George, deceased; John of Chicago, Harvey, of East Carthage, Mrs. Anna Dixon, of Vanleo, Wash., Mrs. Susie Keegan, of Ferris.  She is survived also by twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Mrs. Goodrich led a very active and useful life and enjoyed keeping house for herself even after the four score mark had been passed.  She has lived the last few years with her children, and has been blessed with unusual health for one of her years.  She and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Line, of Keokuk, Iowa, were the only surviving members of a family of nine children.  She will be greatly missed by all of her family and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Carthage, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. H. C. Reichel, officiating.  Burial in the Franklin cemetery.
