Dorothy Aileen Glasscock, 76, of Keokuk, died Thursday morning June 1, 2000, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1923, in Alexandria, Mo., the daughter of T. A. and Esther Grace Daw Steele. She married John A. Glasscock on Aug. 11, 1946, in Luray, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1998.
Survivors include: five children, Greg Glasscock and his wife, Joyce, Teresa Brotherton and her husband, Russell, David Glasscock and James Glasscock, all of Keokuk and the Rev. Cheryl Henson and her husband, Michael, of Oregon, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Amber and April Glasscock, Garrick, Aaron, Autumn and Cherith Brotherton, Noah, Greg and Jessica Hanson; two great-grandchildren, Zach and Clarissa Brotherton; a sister, Sylvia Rudd of Keokuk; a brother, Russell Steele and his wife, Barbara, of Keokuk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was further preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.
She was a lifelong Keokuk area resident and was a grocery store clerk at Paetz and IGA.
Mrs. Glasscock was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, was B.E.F. teacher and had been a member of several boards at the church.
Graveside services are at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Keokuk National Cemetery with Pastor Dale Thomas officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.
