SAYLORS GEDDESMrs. Julia Saylors Geddes passed away at her home in Peoria, Ill., May 6th, 1929, of pneumonia, aged 57 years, 6 months and 23 days.
The passing of this good woman brings to a close the earthly journey of one who lived well and worthily, one faithful and true in her varied relations as wife, mother, sister and friend, one who did justly, loved mercy and walked humbly with her God.
Julia was the daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Martin Saylors and was born Nov. 7th, 1871 in Webster, Ill. She was married to William Paul Geddes, August 14, 1895, and to this union were born four children: Helen (Mrs. Robert O'Neal), of Augusta, Ill.; an infant daughter, born Jan. 5th, 1902, living only four days; Ruth, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Robert, of Corvallis, Oregon. There are also four grandchildren, which were the pride of her heart.
Surviving her beside the husband and children are one brother, Carrol, of Muskogee, Okla., and a sister, Mrs. I. S. Mull, of Paris, Mo., and a host of friends.
Mrs. Geddes was converted in young womanhood and united with the Presbyterian Church at Fountain Green, during the pastorate of Dr. Pugh, November, 1899.
Her passing brings a sense of loss to many, her friends will sadly miss her and the pleasant greeting that awaited all who crossed the threshold of her pleasantly appointed home. Her one delight was to entertain, no task too great, and her charming hospitality will be remembered always by her many friends and they deeply deplore the sudden summons that calls her from a life of usefulness.
"She has passed beyond our vision,
To that land of light and love,
Where she now awaits our coming
In the mansioned home above."Funeral services were held Friday, May 10th, at 12 o'clock noon, at the Wenzeler funeral home in Peoria, Ill., Dr. Williamson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Following the short services the body was brought to the Geddes cemetery near Fountain Green, where many friends and relatives awaited. After a short service, conducted by Dr. Harmon Johnson, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of this city, she was laid to rest.
