LA HARPE, Ill. -- Funeral services for Allen G. Geddes, 88, of La Harpe, who died at 5:40 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 6, 1977) in a Peoria nursing home will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Banks and Beals Funeral Home. The Rev. Wilmer Wernecke will officiate. Burial will be in McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green. Memorials may be made to the La Harpe Senior Citizens Club or La Harpe Hospital.
Mr. Geddes was born Oct. 19, 1888, near Fountain Green, a son of Thomas and Lillian Latherow Geddes. He married Edna Montague at Pittsburgh, Pa., Dec. 30, 1915. She died July 17, 1974. He taught school and then farmed in the Fountain Green area for many years before moving to La Harpe in 1967. He was a member of the Fountain Green Presbyterian Church, La Harpe Lodge No. 195 AF & AM, the Hancock County Farm Bureau and the La Harpe Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving are a son, Monte of Mediapolis, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Jean) Lynn of Peoria and Miss Joy Geddes of Arlington Heights; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
