Column 1Died, at his late residence in this place Wednesday evening last, G. R. Galloway, death resulting from a second stroke of paralysis, aged 63 years, eleven months and twenty-four days. Deceased was born in Brown county, Ky., Feb. 11th, 1832 and came to Hancock county, Ill. with his parents when 4 years of age. Feb. 11th, 1853 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Wilson and to them five children were born, two of whom are yet living, Mrs. Albert Milby and Semerilt Galloway. The mother of these children died when they were quite young, and Nov. 11th, 1873 Mr. Galloway was united in marriage to Mrs. Ellen Pennock (nee Burnett) who survives him, with three brothers, John Galloway, of Carthage, and Willis and Robert Galloway, of near Elm Tree. In the loss of Mr. Galloway the wife has been deprived of an agreeable and affectionate companion, the children a kind and indulgent father and the community one of its kind and influential citizens and neighbors. The funeral was held in the Christian church, of which he was a member, Friday at 10 o'clock, Elder Shamhart of Carthage preaching a most touching and able discourse, after which the remains were laid to rest in Harmony cemetery.
