Succumbs FridayDoud Furrow, 90, a native of Burnside, who spent his entire life in Hancock county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Steven Tyler of Dallas City at 5:45 Friday evening.
Doud Furrow, elder child of Jeremiah and Sarah Fletcher Furrow, was born May 6, 1858 at Burnside. He was a resident of Burnside until the past eight years.
He was married to Mary Salisbury Oct. 6, 1886. To this union were born four children, Hulen (deceased), Mrs. Mildred Wray of Fairfield, Iowa, Mrs. Ruth Tyler of Dallas City and Raymond C. of Carthage.
In 1940 Mr. and Mrs. Furrow moved from Burnside to the home of their daughter in Dallas City because of Mrs. Furrow's failing health, and where she passed away Feb. 17, 1943. After the death of his wife he continued to make his home with the Tylers.
He suffered a severe stroke April 23, 1944 which rendered him helpless.
Besides his children he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lenora Dean of Carthage and Mrs. Mary Pollan of Centralia, Wash. Also the following grandchildren: C. Jerry Miller of South Bend, Ind., Mrs. Ruth Ellen Tomlinson of Carthage and Mary Margaret Furrow of Keokuk, Iowa.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. and Mrs. O. B. Morris at the Martin funeral home in Dallas City Monday afternoon at 2:30. Burial was in McKay cemetery.
