LAST RITES FOR
AMANDA FRAZEE
HELD SUNDAY

Amanda Frazee entered life eternal at her home in this city Friday, August 8, 1941, age 75 -- "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

Amanda Alley, daughter of Gordon and Henrietta Alley, was born Nov. 22, 1866, and lived all her life in this county.

On August 30, 1885, she became the wife of Elder Louis E. Frazee, who preceded her in death August 25, 1926.  To this happy union were given two children, Ethel, wife of Ray E. Coffman, of Mobile, Alabama, and Lester F. Frazee of Keokuk, Ia., who with their children survive their sainted parents.

Mrs. Frazee is also survived by her brother, Charles Alley, and sister, Mrs. Fred Welch of Table Grove, two grandsons, Leonard L. Coffman and Robert L. Frazee, and two great grandchildren, David and Truman Coffman of Mobile, Alabama.

She united early in life with the Elm Tree Methodist church, later uniting with Middle Creek Baptist church.  She was a member of the Eastern Star lodge.

She lived in Carthage since the death of Elder Frazee.

Mrs. Frazee was a woman of rare and beautiful character.  She was a great lover of flowers and therefore a lover of beauty and chastity.  She loved all goodness and her heart every hour sang praises for the great gifts of God to mankind.

A neighbor and friend has made the following eulogy of Mrs. Frazee which certainly betokens the love and esteem in which she was universally held.  Mrs. Earl Bell writes of her:

The deep purpose of life is to show thyself a mother, friend and neighbor, worthy of the name.

We can truly say that our beloved neighbor, Mrs. Amanda Frazee never over-looked an opportunity to make herself useful in this triple capacity.  The services she gave to others had a consecrated value -- when one realized that though physically exhausted she met the needs of others first.

A remarkable thing about real people, is the way they carry on, steadied by the prospects of trouble or confusion of any kind.

Our friend in looking about, realized that things were either God-made or man-made, therefore, chose the God-made things as a means to the right way of living, giving and loving.

When her self-tended garden bore a profusion of beautiful blossoms for all to see and admire, it has been my pleasure to find on our door step in the cool morning air, a lovely floral offering, in perfect basket arrangement, picked and delivered quietly by her own busy, loving hands. They seemed to breathe a message, "Love Thy Neighbor."  I know God loves a cheerful giver, and that He loves my neighbor too.

The funeral was held at The Elms Sunday, August 10, at 3:00 p. m., Elder L. C. Jones, assisted by Elder J. L. Pickett of Keokuk, Ia., officiating.  Burial at Moss Ridge.

Miss Dorothy Frazee sang "Beautiful Garden of Prayer," and "There Will Be No Tears in Paradise."

The pallbearers were: George D. Young, Keokuk; Frank Kunz, Orville Lyon, Lertin Burner, Harry Jennings and Paul Brakensick.

Attending the funeral from out of town: Rev. and Mrs. J. L. Pickett, Mr. and Mrs. Wyse Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. DeYoung, Mr. and Mrs. John Meister, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Elting, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Estes Norton, Mrs. George Strohmier, Mrs. Arnold Schard from Keokuk, Iowa; Don Frazee, Claude Frazee, Francis Frazee, of Gorin, Mo.; Mrs. Lizzie Danclovie, Kirksville, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Salee from Rutledge, Mo.; Mrs. Edith Burtrum, Rutledge, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Otis Snowden, Vermont, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Welch, Table Grove, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Alley, Marion, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bright, Beardstown, Ill.
