Melvin Faulkner

Funeral services for Melvin A. Faulkner, 59, Rt. 3. Carthage, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Kilgore-Palmer Memorial Home in Carthage with the Rev. Keith Elliott officiating.  Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

Mr. Faulkner died Wednesday evening, May 7, 1969, in Carthage Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 12, 1910, near Ferris, a son of Samuel A. and Ollie Williams Faulkner.  He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a farmer.  He lived all of his life in the Carthage area.  He married Darlene Smith Oct. 8, 1932, in Quincy.

Surviving with his wife are eight daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Marilyn) Harris of Sutter, Mrs. Bill Sandra Welch of Simi, Calif., Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Black of Carthage, Barbara Jean Faulkner of Hermosa, Calif., Beverly Kay Faulkner of Chicago, Janet, Pamela and Roberta at home; four sons, Thomas at home, James of Terre Haute, Richard of Keokuk, Iowa and Donald of Chicago; and 19 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
