DIES THURSDAYMrs. Hettie Ewing, 88, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Orville Barker at Pontoosuc, Thursday afternoon, April 11.
Hettie Young was the daughter of Jessie and Catherine Weyman Young and was born near Burnside December 30, 1857. She was married to William Ewing November 18, 1873 to which union eight children were born, namely, Mrs. Cora Barker, Pontoosuc, Mrs. Bertha DeHart, Rosemead, Calif., Mrs. Pearl Londrie, Hamilton, Mrs. Nellie Hoffeditz, Raritan, Merlin Ewing, Midlothian; three preceding her in death were Mrs. Agnes Jones, Mrs. Minnie Londrie and Grover Ewing.
Mr. Ewing passed away in April, 1924. She also leaves 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Melvina Jacobs of Streator and Mrs. Nettie Wilcox, Pontoosuc.
Funeral services were held on Saturday from the Christian church in Burnside of which she was a member, with interment in the McKay cemetery. Six grandsons, who served as pallbearers were Stanley, Ercell and Ward Londrie and Virgil, Carmen and Ray Hoffeditz.
