EMANUEL R. EWING

April 3, 1916 -- April 5, 2004

Emanuel Raymond Ewing, 88, a lifetime resident of Warsaw, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born on April 3, 1916, in Hancock County, the son of Grover and Lydia Hanerhoff Ewing.  He married Ruth Buckert on June 3, 1950, at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga.

He is survived by one son, Craig Darcy Ewing of Warsaw; one grandson, Wyatt Lane Taylor of Warsaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He graduated from Warsaw area schools.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Ralph Parker American Legion Post of Warsaw.  He was of the Protestant faith.  He had farmed in the Warsaw area and worked at General Mills in Keokuk, Iowa.  Most recently, he worked as a guard at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison, Iowa.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.  He especially loved his dogs, Rock, a yellow lab and Gauge, a black lab.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 9, in the Lamporte Funeral Home of WarsawRev. Mark Horn officiated.  Burial followed with full military honors in the Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw.

Memorials have been established in his memory.
