Mrs. Lucy Ellefritz

Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Etta Ellefritz, 83, of Carthage were held Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Kilgore Memorial Home, the Rev. John N. Keller, pastor of the First Methodist church of Carthage, officiating.  Mrs. Robert Cadwell was the organist.  Casket bearers were Amos Huls, Lawrence Hackett, Willard Davis, Fred Wright, Bert Fleming, and Francis Lunt.  Burial was in McKay cemetery near Burnside.

Mrs. Ellefritz died Saturday, Sept. 7, in Memorial hospital in Carthage, following several weeks of serious illness.  She had been hospitalized since July 31.

Born Feb. 16, 1880 near Joetta, she was a daughter of Joseph and Letha Brewer Mort.  She was married in Burnside May 29, 1895 to Carlos Ellefritz.  Her husband was a farmer and the family lived in the Donnellson, Iowa community, the Burnside community, and in Carthage.  He died in 1938 and Mrs. Ellefritz spent most of the remainder of her life in Carthage.

She was a member of the Burnside Methodist church.

Surviving are three sons, Kenneth, LeRoy and Albert, all of Carthage; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Van Dyke of Jacksonville; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Rollie Mort of Black Foot, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Hoskins of Dallas City and Miss Grace Mort of Twin Falls, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Paul, Gay and Lawrence; four daughters, Marie, Faye, Mildred, and Elma; and two brothers.
