Funeral services for Gaylord Ellefritz, 65, of near Carthage, were held Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Fecht Funeral Home in Carthage, the Rev. Alfred Eastin, pastor of the Carthage Baptist church, officiating. Mrs. Kenneth Cutler was the organist. Pallbearers were Ed Habben, Edward Denison, Tom Ruggles, Tony Johnson, Carl Newman and Francis Lunt. Interment was in McKay cemetery with committal services by the Phillip Hartzell post No. 74 American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post No. 5117.
Mr. Ellefritz died in his home Monday morning following an extended illness.
Born in Burnside April 22, 1896, he was a son of Carlos and Lucy Mort Ellefritz. He was married Dec. 6, 1926 to Clara Neally who survives.
A veteran of World War I, he was wounded at St. Mihiel in France Oct. 2, 1918. He was in France from June 20, 1918 to Feb. 10, 1919.
Surviving with the widow are his mother; three sons, Max, Lyle and Donnie Ellefritz, all of Carthage; a daughter, Mrs. Arlo Collingwood of Center Point, Iowa; four brothers, Albert, Kenneth and Leroy, all of Carthage, and Lawrence of Burnside; a sister, Mrs. Irene Van Dyke of Jacksonville, and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and four sisters.
