Deloris J. Markley
Becomes Bride of
Gayle Ellefritz

Miss Deloris Joan Markley of Carthage, daughter of Ward Markley of Elvaston and Mrs. Earl McCaughey of Cheyenne, Wyo., became the bride of Gayle Ellefritz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ellefritz of Burnside, Saturday.  The Rev. Leland R. Beck officiated in the double ring ceremony at 7:30 p.m. in the Carthage Christian church.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Shipman of Carthage were attendants and others present were Mr. and Mrs. Ward Markley of Elvaston and Miss Alma Siegfried of Carthage.  The bride wore a white linen sheath dress with matching jacket, white accessories and a corsage of pink carnations.  Mrs. Shipman wore an aqua and black dress, black accessories and a corsage of white carnations.

Following the ceremony the bride and bridegroom, their attendants and Mr. and Mrs. Markley enjoyed a steak dinner at the Rainbow Inn.

The bride was graduated from Carthage Community high school with the class of 1954 and was also graduated from Burlington Beauty academy, Burlington, Ia.  She will continue her work at Cotton's Cafe in Carthage.

The bridegroom was graduated from Colusa high school in 1952 and is employed by W. L. Miller, general contractor, in Carthage.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellefritz are at home in one of the Coeur apartments at 255 Main, Carthage.

GAYLE ELLEFRITZ

June 20, 1934 -- May 16, 2005

Gayle "Pete" Ellefritz, 70, of Nauvoo and formerly of Burnside, died Monday, May 16, 2005, in Montebello Manor Health Care Center in Hamilton.

He was born June 20, 1934, in Burnside, a son of Lawrence and Edith Gail Edgecomb Ellefritz.  He married Shirley Ann Myers on May 14, 1966, in Keokuk, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Nauvoo; one daughter, Jeanette Quesenberry of Liberty; three sons, Randy (Martha) Ellefritz of Keokuk, Mark Ellefritz of Carthage, and Jeff Ellefritz of Jacksonville; three brothers, Robert (Short) Ellefritz of Burnside, Vernon (Carolee) Ellefritz of Carthage, and Danny (Pat) Ellefritz of Ferris; one sister-in-law, Sandra Ellefritz of Ferris; four grandchildren, Sarah Roberts of Mesa, Ariz., Jennifer (Adam) Akers of Pittsfield, Jessica Wilsey of Keokuk, and Stephanie (Zeb) Smeltser of Keokuk; two great-grandchildren, Lilly (Little Britches) Oliver and Emily Ann Oliver, both of Pittsfield; and special friends, Fred, Carmen and Butch Baxtor of Nauvoo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, twin brother, Glen "Bill" Ellefritz and Jackie Ellefritz; one son, David; and one son-in-law, Bud Quesenberry.

He went to school in Burnside and graduated from Colusa High School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was a route salesman for Prairie Farms Dairy for many years.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and camping, the Yankee's and Bears, and loved playing with his great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage with Rev. Tom Mehaffy officiating.  Burial will follow in the McKay Cemetery near Burnside.  Friends may call at the funeral home in Carthage after 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19, and meet with family from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials in the name of Gayle "Pete" Ellefritz have been established for Hancock Blessing Hospice or in his memory.
