Reva M. Elder, 98, of LaHarpe, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe.
She was born June 15, 1908, in Colusa, a daughter of George N. and Myrtle Holmes Lincoln. On March 20, 1931, she married William V. Elder in Quincy. He died July 17, 1978.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Brenda (Scott) Briney of Geneseo; two great-granddaughters, Beth and Laura Briney; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Shirley Elder Shutwell.
She graduated from Colusa High School in 1926 and worked as a clerk at the LaHarpe Post Office, retiring in 1973. She enjoyed music, flowers and traveling, visiting all 50 states. She was a member of the Shadrack Bond Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, LaHarpe Senior Citizens and the LaHarpe Union Church where she served as a Deaconess and belonged to the Philathea Club. She also served as secretary of the LaHarpe Community Council.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 25, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiated. Burial followed in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center or the LaHarpe Union Church.
