Funeral services for William Earls, 79, of Basco were held Thursday, June 30, at 2 p.m. in the Basco Baptist church, the Rev. Virgil Kelly officiating. Burial in Basco South cemetery.
Mr. Earls, a retired painter and sawmill operator, died Tuesday, June 28, in Memorial hospital in Carthage, where he had been a patient for three weeks. He had been in ill health for two years.
He was a son of John and Orpha Wilson Earls and was married March 1, 1903 to Carrie Huff, who died in October, 1938. He lived in Basco most of his life.
Surviving are a son, Ervin of Basco; a daughter, Mrs. Opal Rickey of Gilbert, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, eight sisters, and a daughter, Laura Orpha, preceded him in death.
