Column 1Mrs. William Earls
Funeral services for Mrs. William Earls, 72, of Basco were held Monday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. in the Basco Baptist church, the Rev. Virgil Kelly officiating. Music furnished by Miss Irva Peters and Mrs. Zella Hanerhoff. Casket bearers were Mrs. Earls' nephews, Lee Junk, Harold Tieman, Albert Tieman, Dale Richardson, Raymond Holtsclaw and Jesse Richardson. Burial was in Basco South cemetery.
Mrs. Earls died Friday, Oct. 31, in Memorial hospital in Carthage following an illness of over a year.
Carrie Bell Huff was born in Basco Feb. 17, 1886, a daughter of John C. and Laura Wilkinson Huff. She was married to William Earls on March 1, 1903. They spent their married life in Basco with the exception of a few years in Burlington and Winfield, Ia.
She had been a member of the Basco Baptist church since early girlhood and was a member of the Amoma class of that church.
Surviving are the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Opal Rickey of Gilbert, Ariz.; a son, Ervin of Basco; seven grandchildren, Karlene Earls of Chicago, Gene Earls of Carthage, Penny, Cindy, Danny and Marcia Earls, all of Basco and Frank Rickey of Ames, Ia.; three great-grandchildren, Donna, Dawn and Kindra Rickey; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Tieman of Basco and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a two year old daughter, Laura, and a sister, Mrs. Leota Richardson.
