BENTLEY.

A SAD ACCIDENT.

Last Thursday, while visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Yetter, near Carthage, little Marguerite, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dunsworth, fell into the well through a trap door and drowned before she could be gotten out.  Mrs. Gibbons, the nearest neighbor, hearing the mother's screams ran to Mr. Yetter's to see what the trouble was and to lend a helping hand if needed.  Ernest Kindred, who was visiting at Mr. Gibbons, arrived at the scene of the accident in a very short time and lost no time in going down after the baby.  He was lowered in the well by Mr. Friend, who happened to be passing on his way to CarthageMr. Kindred soon had the little one in his arm and was drawn to the surface by Mr. Friend, who took the little lifeless form and placed it in the arms of one of the women.  Dr. Ferris was telephoned for and arrived in a very few minutes.  He worked heroically to bring the little one to but failed.  Life was gone and little Marguerite was resting safe in the arms of Jesus, who said: "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of heaven."  Marguerite was one year, three months and eleven days old.  She was a beautiful child, idolized by her parents and loved by all who knew her.  The little white casket was covered with beautiful flowers and carried by four little girls.  The funeral was conducted in the M. E. church by the Baptist minister of Carthage, after which the remains were buried in Harmony cemeteryMr. and Mrs. Dunsworth have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
