Robert 'Bob' Duffy
Dies At Memorial

Robert C. Duffy, 50, of Hamilton, died early Sunday morning in the Memorial hospital.

He had been superintendent of streets for the city of Hamilton for several years.  "Bob" as he was better known to Carthage residents, lived in this and the Burnside vicinity for several years, some time ago.

He was born March 23, 1896 at Webster, the son of Benjamin and Jeannette Williams Duffy.

On November 13, 1937, at Keokuk, Iowa, he was married to Gladys Dennison Swigelson.

He is survived by his wife and two sons by a former marriage, Gilbert and Harlan Duffy, both of Carthage; a step-daughter, Mrs. Thaine Metternich, of Hamilton; two brothers, Floyd of LaHarpe, and Farlin, of Burnside; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah LeMaster of Chillicothe and Mrs. Mary Dahl, of LaHarpe, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Orville, Clarence and Kermit, and a sister, Mrs. Ed. Weatherington.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p. m., in the Hamilton Funeral Home with the Rev. H. P. French, officiating.  Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.
