Gladys Duffy, 89, of Hamilton died Thursday, Dec. 27, 1990 in Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
Mrs. Duffy was born May 27, 1901, in Hamilton, the daughter of Benjamin Isaac and Etta Louisa Merritt Dennison. She married Chalmer Swigelson on Feb. 2, 1921, in Carthage. He died May 2, 1927. On Nov. 13, 1937, she married Robert Duffy. He died Jan. 4, 1953.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hamilton. She was educated in the Hamilton school system and worked at Dadant and Sons for over 2½ years. She had been a resident of Montebello Manor Health Care Center for 4½ years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Thaine (Mary Ruth) Metternich of Hamilton; three grandsons; five stepsons; two step-granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and a number of step-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, a brother and two stepsons.
Services were held Monday at Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Hamilton.
