Coy C. Dorothy Sr., 87, of Carthage, died Wednesday in Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville.
He was born Dec. 3, 1899, in Hancock County, a son of Ethern and Ellen Atwater Dorothy. He married Clarice E. Markey, May 16, 1923, in Hancock County. She died May 25, 1983.
He was employed by the state of Illinois in Springfield, was a retired farmer and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Carthage.
Surviving are his two daughters, Betty Dorothy of Carthage and Mary Lohman of West Point, Iowa; one son, Coy Dorothy Jr. of Hamilton; one half brother, Lyndell "Bud" Dorothy of Jacksonville; two half sisters, Ruth Dorothy of Jacksonville and Mrs. Dale (June) Delaney of Riverton; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday in Lamporte Funeral Home, Carthage, the Rev. Leo L. Bates officiating. Burial was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
A memorial to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church has been established.
