JOETTA.

Mrs. Millisa Dill died September 24, 1901, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Johnson, five miles west of Joetta.

She was born September 24, 1814 in South Carolina.  While yet in her childhood, she with her parents moved to the State of Tennessee.  Her father died when she was ten years old.  She and her mother remained in Tennessee for a few years, and then with her uncle moved to Iowa, then in a short time to Illinois, settling near Blandinsville.  She was married to Reuben Dill March 23, 1835.  July 1, 1873, deceased was called to lay away her husband.  To them were born eight children, six sons and two daughters.  Three sons with her husband have passed away.  There are left to mourn her departure five children, as follows: Roland of Oklahoma, Solomon of Carthage township, James, Millissa, and Malinda of Hancock, twenty-three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, besides a great many friends.  Being an old settler she was widely known and respected by all.  There being no church convenient the funeral was held at the Woodville school house Thursday, September 26, conducted by Rev. L. R. Sherman of Blandinsville, after which the remains were interred in the family burying ground by the side of her husband and three sons.
