John DeHaven

BLANDINSVILLE -- Services for John H. DeHaven, 29, of Pittsfield, formerly of Blandinsville, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, Norman Howard officiating.  Burial, with military rites, will be held in the McConnell Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home anytime after noon today and the family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight.  Memorials may be made to the Illinois Lions Foundation.

Mr. DeHaven died at 12:50 p.m. Friday from injuries received in a motorcycle accident Sunday, Sept. 13, near Pittsfield.  He died at the St. Marys Hospital in Quincy.

He was born July 9, 1952, in LaHarpe, the son of Robert and Christine Hasten DeHaven.  He was the manager of Alexander Lumber Company in Pittsfield.  He was the former manager of the Alexander Lumber Company in Cuba.  He was a member of the Old Bedford Christian Church, LaHarpe American Legion Post 301, Canton Moose Lodge, and Pittsfield Lions Club.  He was a 1970 graduate of Northwestern High School and attended Black Hawk College in Moline.  He served in the Marine Corps from 1971 to 1973 and served in the Marine Reserves for four years.

Surviving are his parents of Blandinsville; one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Debbie) Thompson Jr., of Albany, Ill.; one brother, Dennis of Blandinsville; and grandmother, Mrs. Jessie Hasten of Carthage.
