Funeral services for Paul Frank Cox, 65, of LaHarpe were held Sunday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Banks Funeral Home in LaHarpe, the Rev. B. L. Reed officiating. Burial was in the Hillsboro cemetery east of LaHarpe with committal services by the LaHarpe American Legion Post.
Mr. Cox died in the Veterans' hospital in Iowa City, Iowa Thursday, Sept. 20. He had been in failing health for the past year and had been in the hospital in Iowa City for six weeks.
Born in Indian Valley, Va. Oct. 26, 1896, he was a son of Alfred and Louvina Mitchell Cox. He was married to Mary Ethel Foster in Burlington, Iowa April 13, 1918. Mrs. Cox died on July 1 of this year.
He was engaged in truck farming. A member of the Old Bedford Christian church, he was also a member of the American Legion, and a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Gerald Emery of Sciota, Mrs. Lewis Lee and Mrs. Joe Benham of LaHarpe, Mrs. Dale Ralbot of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Ernest Nixon of Moline; four sisters, Mrs. Russel Cadle of LaHarpe, Mrs. Harvey Duncan, Mrs. Floyd Bailey, and Mrs. Rosa Cooper, all of Stronghurst; a brother, Ballard Cox of Blandinsville; six grandchildren; three great - grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A sister-in-law, Miss Ada Foster, had made her home with the Coxes for the past 38 years.
Two sisters and one brother are deceased.
