Column 3ARIUS ERASTUS COX
Arius Erastus Cox, son of Fulton and Adline Cox, was born April 8, 1874, in Floyd county, Virginia. When two years of age, with his parents he came to Illinois, and here he grew to manhood. Several years later with his parents he moved to Iowa and to Missouri, from there to Nebraska, returning to Illinois in 1906, and on Feb. 21, 1906, was united in marriage to Miss Selma Printy. To this union one son was born, Howard, now 12 years of age.
He was taken sick on Friday and on Monday became so much worse, he was removed to Marietta Phelps hospital in Macomb, where he passed away at 9:30 o'clock a. m., Sept. 9th, aged 45 years, 5 months and 1 day. Beside his wife and son, Mrs. Richard Bruner and son, Clarence, were at his bedside at the time of his death.
"Ras" as he was favorably known, was a cheerful and unselfish man, taking sunshine with him wherever he went and will be sadly missed in the community by all who knew him.
Beside his wife and son, he leaves to mourn his loss, his aged parents of Pawnee City, Nebr.; one sister, Mrs. Ollie McNair, of Imperial, Nebr.; and four brothers, Cleve, somewhere in the east, only recently returned from France; John, of McGuffey, New Mexico; Cecil, of Blanchard, Ia., and Robert, of Pawnee City, Nebr., beside a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral occurred from the Elm Tree M. E. Church on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 2:30, conducted by Elder L. E. Frazee. Burial at Holland cemetery. A large concourse of relatives and friends were in attendance. A number from Plymouth, Denver and Carthage; his father, Fulton Cox and brother, Robert from Pawnee City, Nebr., were in attendance. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.

PROMINENT ST. MARYS MAN DIED SUDDENLY
The death of Aris R. Cox, of St. Marys Prairie, came as a great shock to this locality. He died Tuesday morning about 8 o'clock at the Phelps hospital in Macomb where he had been taken Monday.
The last of last week he was taken with spells of vomiting. Sunday he was able to be about, but would have the spells of vomiting at times throwing up blood. He grew worse and was taken to the hospital Monday. The doctors recognized from the first that his condition was serious. He rapidly grew worse until his death. Death was the result of hemorrhages, but when caused the hemorrhages is not known but it was the opinion of the doctors that is was the result of ulcers of the stomach and bowels.
The deceased was a well known farmer and highly respected by all. He was born near Plymouth, April 8, 1873, being at the time of his death 46 years, 5 months and 1 day old. Almost his entire life was spent about Plymouth. He was married Feb. 21, 1906 to Selma Printy and she, with her son, Howard, survive the death of their beloved husband and father.
The funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Methodist church Middle Creek at 2:30. The remains will be laid at rest in the Holland cemetery.

Column 4Mrs. Selma Cox had the body of her husband, Mr. Ras Cox, removed from the Holland cemetery and laid by the side of their only son, Howard at Moss Ridge at Carthage last Friday. Only a few of their most intimate friends accompanied the body to its final resting place.
