Jerry L. Collins, 60, of Burlington, Iowa, died Sunday, July 27, 2008, while fishing at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
He was born July 16, 1948, in LaHarpe, a son of Owen and Louise Dunn Collins.
He is survived by his special friend, Amy Oetken of Burlington; his mother, Louise Collins of LaHarpe; two sons, Joshua Lane Collins of Oquawka and Jody Lynn Collins of Gladstone; three grandchildren, Tom, Stephanie and Tyler Collins; and one sister, Penny Brewer of LaHarpe.
He was preceded in death by his father, two nephews and his grandparents.
He graduated from LaHarpe High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. For the past seven years he worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant as a security guard. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Darren Beachy officiated. Burial with full military rites was held in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
