Column 3MRS. SARAH L. CARROLL.
Sarah L., daughter of William and Eliza Huff Stotlar, was born near Peoria, Ill., Jan. 8, 1876, and died after a brief illness at St. Francis hospital, Macomb, Ill., Jan. 18th, aged 57 years and ten days.
She was united in marriage in 1898 to Charles H. Carroll, and to them were born these children, Nellie, who died in infancy, Florence Lane, of Glasgow, Ky; Myrtle Long, of Ferris; William, Harvey and Bertha at home.
This happy family circle was broken in April, 1924, when death claimed the husband and father. Since then Mrs. Carroll and her younger children have made their home with her brothers, Vince and Frank, also the nephew, Floyd Brooks, sharing through the years their work with a sister's faithful love.
Her grandchildren, Louise and Maxine Long, were her heart's fondest delight and nothing was more pleasing than to have them with her. Sade, as she was familiarly known among her many friends, was a kind and devoted mother, a true friend and a favorite among her neighbors, always ready to lend a helping hand in sickness or need.
Beside the children and grandchildren she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary Dickson of Wayland, Mo.; a half-sister, Mrs. Lucinda Bruce, and her brothers, Vince, Frank and John of near Oak Grove. Her parents, her sisters, Nettie and Mrs. Ella Brooks and a brother, William, preceded her into the other world.
Yes, dear mother, we will miss thee,
From thy old familiar place,
And we'll long again to see thee,
And the smiles of thy dear face.
Yes, we miss our darling mother,
Miss her fond and loving care,
We are conscious that no other,
E'er can fill her vacant chair.
We remember thee in all the past,
We miss thee from thy place,
A shadow o'er our life is cast,
That time cannot erase.
From this weary world thou hast gone,
To rest with those gone on before,
We are left here to mourn all alone,
Till we meet on the beautiful shore.Funeral services were conducted from Oak Grove church on Saturday at 2 o'clock, Rev. J. W. Porter officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
