Mrs. Harriet Carnes, widow of Benjamin F. Carnes, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Norman Bundy, in this city, Thursday, March 8, 1912 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.  Her age was 75 years, 9 months and 7 days.  Funeral services were held at the Christian church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Elder E. A. Jordan.  Burial in LaHarpe cemetery.

The lady's maiden name was Harriet Dunham, and she was born in Ohio, May 31, 1836.  She was married to Benjamin F. Carnes in Pike County, this state in 1858.

The husband died suddenly in this city about fifteen years ago.  There are children surviving as follows: Mrs. Sam Spiker, of Walkaloo, Kansas, Mesdames Martha and Tillie Bundy, George and Owen Carnes, of LaHarpe, and Mrs. Lucy Huff, of PeoriaMrs. Carnes also leaves one sister, Mrs. Martha DeJanes, of Baylis, Ill., and three brothers, William Dunham of Fort Scott, Kansas, John of Mason city, Mo., and George of this vicinity.
