Tressler B. Carlton

Tressler Bennett "Tuffy" Carlton, 40, of Cudahy, Calif., and formerly of Keokuk died at 6 p.m. Sunday at his home.  He had been ill for several years and seriously ill the past two years.

Born Jan. 17, 1931 in Keokuk, he was the son of Leslie B. and Chloe Bryant Carlton.  He left Keokuk 10 years ago.  He married Onita Shirley Potter July 21, 1951, in Keokuk.  He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist church and a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, six sons, Ronald of Anaheim, Calif., Richard, in the U.S. Marines, Danny, Steve, Raymond and Randy, at home; two daughters, Tina and Faith, both at home; his mother, Mrs. William Briggs, Sr. of Keokuk; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Lucille) Carlson and Mrs. James (Rosa Ann) Smith both of Keokuk; two brothers, Byrd of San Francisco and Carroll of Keokuk; two half-brothers, William Briggs, Jr. of Keokuk and Robert A. Briggs of Keokuk; his grandmother, Mrs. Ethel Bryant of Keokuk.  He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Thomas Henry.

The body will arrive here Saturday morning.  Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at DeJong's Funeral Home with the Rev. Nelson Grote officiating.  Interment, with military rites will be in Keokuk National cemetery.
