Frank R. Carlson, 86, of Warsaw, died Friday, March 14, 2003.
He was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Keokuk, Iowa, the oldest son of Frank E. and Sarah Flick Carlson.
He is survived by one sister, Maxine Haworth of Columbus, Ohio; two nieces, Jacquelyn Haworth of Columbus and Linda (Geoffrey) Anderson of Hammond, Ind.; one great niece and nephew, Margaret Foster and Nathan Foster of Hammond.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Duell Carlson; his parents; two brothers, Harold and Norman; and one sister, Marjorie Carlson.
He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII as a ship's photographer on the U.S.S. Kwajalen, CVE98 in the South Pacific. He lived most of his life in Denver, Colo., where he was a cartographer, and later retired to Warsaw, with his wife. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 1991. He was a talented artist, cartoonist and photographer. He was a life member and quartermaster of Warsaw V.F.W. Post #9802. He was a member of Edgewater Lodge #159 of the Masons of Edgewater, Colo., the Loyal Order of Moose, and American Legion Post #0041, of Keokuk.
Graveside services were held Monday, March 17, at Keokuk national Cemetery. Bob Wagner officiated. Full military honors were held at the graveside by Warsaw V.F.W. Post #9802 and Keokuk American Legion Post #0041.
Lamporte Funeral Home of Warsaw was in charge of arrangements.
