Funeral services for George W. Carle, 76, Carthage, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Kilgore-Leathem Funeral Home in Carthage. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery east of Carthage.
Mr. Carle died Tuesday morning, April 15, 1975, in Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
He was born July 23, 1898, in Hancock Township, a son of Jerry and Bessie Estes Carle. He married Sarah Whelchel Sept. 6, 1919, in Hancock County. She died in 1932. A daughter, four sisters and a brother also died previously.
Surviving are a son, Gerald of Rock Island; a daughter, Mrs. William (Velma) Welch of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Goldie Lemley of Colchester and Mrs. Dolly Icenogle of Rushville; and three brothers, Otto of Keithburg, Francis of Carthage and Alfred of Plymouth.
