Funeral services for Clifford B. Carle, 68, of Carthage, will be held Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m. in the First Christian church in Carthage, the Rev. James E. Pipe officiating. Miss Sharon Mosley will sing "Whispering Hope" and "Beyond the Sunset," and Mrs. Lowell Smith will be the organist. Casket bearers will be Rollie Mosley, Lawrence Smith, Richard Smith, Robert L. Smith, Vernon Smith, and Wendell Smith. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery.
Mr. Carle died Monday evening, March 11, shortly after being admitted to Memorial hospital.
Born March 21, 1894 in Hancock county, he was a son of George and Esther Huff Carle. He was married Oct. 29, 1913 to Elva Smith, who preceded him in death in 1953.
Surviving are 12 children, Mrs. Charles (Carol) Ogan, Mrs. W. M. (Dorothea) Kinney, Willard and William, all of California; Robert of the United States navy; Mrs. Raymond (Marie) Woods of Moline; Mrs. Glenn (Bernice) Newman of Dallas City; Mrs. Robert (Hazel) Baird, Mrs. Carl (Doris) Carson, Clifton and Clifford Jr., all of Carthage; and Clark of Florida.
Also 43 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Sowder of California and Mrs. Richard Howell of LaHarpe; and three brothers, Louis of California, Wesley of the U.S. navy, and Joseph of Davenport, Iowa.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, and an infant daughter in 1935.
